“ You're in SoHo, it's way past lunch, too early for dinner. You're craving a margarita, maybe some chips and guac. Voila! You literally stumble into happy hour at Papatzul and order precisely that. Best part? You end up taking a quick little trip to Mexico City. The menu at Papatzul is all about honoring and submerging you into the world of Mexico City and it's cuisine. From huaraches to sopes, enchiladas to cazuela, the flavors and the vibe will take you straight to Mexico. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our happy hour mezcalitas and delicious bites served by our awesome bartender. You can even add flavors like passion fruit, tamarindo, etc. Everything is made fresh and our guacamole was served to a creamy perfection in a fancy little glass with freshly fried chips and we even got a quick little mezcal education which made it so fun. Saturday and Sunday they have bottomless brunch and music on certain nights. Can't wait to be back for the full dining experience! ”

“ I came to Papatzul for a late dinner and some dancing on a Saturday night, having made a reservation in advance. Highly recommend doing this if you're looking to dance, so that you don't have to wait in line when they convert the dining room to a dance floor at around 11PM! When we were leaving, the line was around the block. Service was extremely chaotic and both our drink and food orders kept getting lost. There were at least 3 items we had to reorder, and we noticed other tables around us having the same issue. However, our server was extremely apologetic (and very stressed) and brought us some complimentary Margaritas and tequila shots, which we appreciated. However, when the food finally did come out, it was delicious! The beef in my Birria De Res Tacos was SO soft and the dish was extremely flavorful. My friends really liked their food as well, including the Pescado Estilo Baja tacos, Elote De Coyoacan, and Queso Con Chorizo. Actually, the Queso Con Chorizo should really be called the Chorizo Con Queso, because it was WAY more meat than cheese - so that one was a little odd. The drinks were pretty good too. I tried the Le Papatzul (a regular lime margarita) and the Margaritas En Las Rocas (passion fruit margarita). Both were tasty, but the lime tasted a lot stronger than the passionfruit. We also had a great time dancing when the tables were put away, but the space gets very crowded very quickly, so be prepared for that. Would probably return! ”
